Sunday 11th May marks another celebration of Mother’s Day in the United States.

The first official Mother’s Day in America was marked in Grafton, West Virginia, on 10th May, 1908,  in the Andrews Methodist Episcopal Church, this building is now the International Mother’s Day Shrine, a National Historic Landmark.

The custom, which was initially a memorial day,  eventually spread to all states. The holiday was declared officially by some states beginning in 1912. In 1914 President Woodrow Wilson declared the first national Mother’s Day, as a day for American citizens to show the flag in honor of those mothers whose sons had died in war.

Of course today Mothers Day is not thought of so much as a memorial day, but as a celebration and appreciation of all mothers.  We all love to show our ‘mom’ how much we love and appreciate her, and Starlight Bingo is no exception.  We want to mark this special day by giving you more bingo specials.

Many congratulations to player kimmyk who has won a weekend for 2 in Las Vegas, as well as an extra special surprise.  At this time of writing, I cannot reveal the extra surprise, as kimmyk doesn’t yet know herself, so its only fair to let her be the first to know, I’ll reveal all in my next posting, but suffice to say, I think she’s going to be very happy.

We didn’t realise quite how popular this bingo competition would be, especially with the Bingo Cruise 2008 bingo tournament taking place too. Both have been so popular, you have all kept us very busy indeed!  And we want to thank all the players who took part in this fantastic online bingo event.

Now to more good news, we are going to do it all over again.  Yes!! Because of all the lovely e-mails received from you, and the many new players that joined too who are certainly letting us know how much they love Starlight Bingo, we are going to give away another weekend trip to Las Vegas!!

The rules will be the same as as for the previous Viva Las Vegas Bingo competition, where all you have to do is play bingo online between 15th May to 15th June, and the bingo player with the most credits wagered during that time will win the Las Vegas Weekend trip, plus of course we are sure to throw in another very special surprise!  So mark the date in your diary, 15th May, and get ready for another month of crazy bingo.
